June 2006, Issue No. 7
In this issue read
about:
Greetings to you at this exciting time of high summer. The time
around any solstice brings with it opportunities for shift, change
and transformation. The intense light and energy at the midsummer
solstice may feel a little overwhelming at times. We can, however,
use this time to really ride the waves of energy on the planet and
to bring ourselves into our own light as fully as we can. And we
can also use it to connect with one another – to support and
honour each other as we go through this time of change together. One of the ways we can support ourselves through
this process is through colour. The bottles in the Colourworks
range are so completely for and of this time that it seems whatever
question you are posing, whatever issue you are facing, you can
find an answer, or guidance, or healing in these bottles of colour
magic.
In this issue of our newsletter we review the recent Colour 3
courses and share with you how colour literally changes lives.
We also update you on the exciting plans for the 6-day Advanced
Course for Colour Practitioners being held in South Africa in
September/October.
Remember to check out the website and view the Workshops
and Events Diary for a list of Colourworks courses happening
across England and Scotland, and events and fairs at which Colourworks
will be represented.
We would like to make a special mention of one of our Colourworks
Teachers, Sarah Wade, who has recently made the move to New Zealand
and who will be taking this wonderful system even further out
into the world. When Sarah and her family walked out of the airport
building in Auckland, she said the first thing they saw was a
huge perfect rainbow! Our very best wishes to you Sarah for an
exciting time to come.
We would also like to welcome the new group of American teachers
and wish them great joy and success in being a closer part of
the Colourworks team of soulmates.
Enjoy this issue and have a truly wonderful summer.

Melissie's
Column: Lightning Strikes!
Melissie writes: “My friend Gabi,
who was stressed to the nth degree, came and stayed with me and
sat in the stargate and chose bottles daily, and decided that the
only way to sort out the financial stuff that was plaguing her would
be a bath in bottle 18. Every time she chose bottles she chose bottle
16, but 18 was the one she was most attracted to and I know that
this one is the one that clears all the vows of poverty that were
made in previous lifetimes. She took the bottle home to Durban which
has a very subtropical climate with huge thunderstorms, and with
candles and incense, poured the whole thing in the bath. Her partner
watched the weather getting progressively more dramatic and suddenly
heard an almighty clap of thunder and a flash of light and realised
that the bathroom had been struck by lightning. He charged in expecting
to find a crisp black pretzel in the bath but found Gabi a bit stunned
but OK, with a red mark the size of a hand on her hip. Gabi said
that the lightning had flashed like quicksilver across the bath
water and through her. The red oil from bottle 18 mirrored the lightning
flash on the side of the bath. As far as I know, lightning is electricity
– and it should have killed her. She firmly believes that
the oil saved her life and the next day she phoned and told me that
a loan had been granted by the bank. This was a complete miracle
as she had nothing to back it up with.
So we have an oil that saves lives but not just that. It also clears
underlying patterns of belief in lack and survival and changes the
energy around that instantly - in fact like lightning. I am not
sure what this means but I think that it tells us that Colour works
instantly and intensely and it will take us where we need to be
with no holds barred. The choice of bottle 16, which is the tower
struck by lightning, was very interesting, as it confirmed my thought
that that image reminds us that spirit needs us to move and if we
drag our feet it will create the energy that will help us to move.
Even getting struck by lightning if that is what it takes. It will,
however, keep us safe while the change that we are resisting happens.
Moira's
Column: 'When the Going Gets Tough ...' June 2006 Energy Alert
Oh
boy has this been a tough few weeks. Body pains, headaches, dizziness,
fainting spells and food cravings. Yesterday (13 June) was the worst,
I could not get out of bed; it was as if a huge unseen energy force
was holding me down. By lunch time I eventually managed to get a
shower and into clothes, but the effort exhausted me so much I collapsed
on the couch. I had errands to run but I knew I could not drive
my car – is this ME I am experiencing, I wondered? To top
it all my best friend was about to lose her baby and maybe all hope
of ever having another one and I just fell apart, but being so tired
I could only fall apart in slow motion. Nothing is working out according
to a logical time scale, it is a waste of time to plan any deadlines
or take control of anything. My body is not my own, I have put on
weight, my joints ache, all I want to do is sleep. Does this feel
familiar??
Now my dad’s advice would be ‘when
the going gets tough, go fishing!’ Him being a keen fisherman
this would seem sound advice; not only can you go earn your living,
but catch a meal and connect with the oceans and have fun. But
I think dad would be right, now is not the time to force your
future plans or hold onto your past disappointments, now is the
time to detach completely from all of your experiences and expectations
and just be. The colour that brings you into the moment is Magenta.
Soak in bottle C8 or spray Metatron Archangel Essence to support
you.
When you have these symptoms you have arrived in a new dimension.
You cannot hold on to what no longer describes you and you cannot
create a new future without first stopping off and expressing
your gratitude for having arrived, giving thanks for a successful
birth into a new space. So take my dad’s advice and go fishing,
off a pier, on a boat or simply by lying on your bed and visualising
the ocean and you. Personally, I like the bed option…

Colour
Changes Lives: Feedback from Colour 3 Workshop presented by Melissie
Jolly and Amanda Bradbury From
Moira:
Now just when you thought you had this system of colour nailed down,
it changes and takes you to another level. The Colour 1 and 2 workshops
teach us the basics and in themselves are very powerful and transformative.
The launch of the Colour Works book opened another level of understanding
of how this system works. Then came
Colour 3. Melissie and Amanda co-presented this workshop in England
and Scotland during April. This workshop was ‘wow stuff’,
the astrological links with the colour are almost bizarre as the
subject of the stars is vast and exact and yet somehow that information
is within this system that was born in just 36 hours! The information
being unveiled will be the subject of a new book on the links between
colour and astrology. The numerology I have personally also found
very exciting; to ‘see’ your destiny numbers as Soul
Colours being displayed in front of you is life changing. I decided
I had to teach the numerology as part of my new workshops (Star
Guides and Numerology with Colour) and the results have been phenomenal.

Sue’s feedback from Star Guides
and Numerology with Colour workshops:
“What an amazing experience! I was blown away by looking at
Chiron and Pluto in colour in my life. It was a weekend of my body
getting it, over and over again. In the afternoon we had a reading
of the bottles we chose at the beginning of the day. Moira saw a
crab-like alien insect walking sideways, but looking forward. The
shape of the insect was in a wavy line, like my spine, the way it
was when I was born. I have been moving sideways through my life,
moving around issues, still getting there, but in a crab-like side-winding
way. Amazing stuff!
And then came the Numerology...We started with
a meditation to clear ancestral programming and heal seven generations
back and forward. I saw my parents in such a beautiful way. This
was such a soul-searching day. By looking at the colours connected
with the numerology of our names we saw our soul's blueprint. The
bits that we were born with that can not be changed and also the
bits that can be changed. I've looked at numerology before, but
looking at it with colour gives it such an amazing other dimension.
I could not believe what I had brought upon myself by becoming Sue
Russell. I married 16 years ago and have moved 16 times since then
and guess what? I have 16 in my name twice!!! My life has been full
of disruption.
I have always wanted to change my name to Fraser, my mum's maiden
name. Funny, now that the past is healed I am going to do it. On
Monday before Moira left we had a look at the colours for my new
name and it feels so much better. On Monday night I bathed in my
bottle 16 which had turned clear on the top and light turquoise
on the bottom! It was time to let 16 out of my life.
My new name contains Saturn in the outer expression in my life -
it's time for me to teach and it's time for me to put down some
roots and get a foundation. Today I received an email asking me
to do a one day training day in colour. How quickly the Universe
sets things into motion once we make a decision. I let the past
go with Grace and most importantly of all - JOY! I look forward
to the new me. I AM Sue Fraser”.
From Erica:
Combining a day of Numerology and Colour with a day of Astrology
and Colour resulted in the most incredible workshop. I attended
the Portsmouth workshop and had, literally, one of the most profound
experiences of my life. Seeing myself represented in colour was
so deep, so powerful and so revealing, that the full impact didn’t
hit me until the next day, when it hit me with some force! As I
realised what a gift I had been given I felt such enormous gratitude
to Melissie for seeing me as I am, and for showing me to myself.
I think what amazed us all was just how much
is possible with colour, and with Colourworks in particular. There
simply are no limits to what this system can do!
Alexandria Rice came to visit me the day after
I returned from the course with Melissie and Amanda. Keen to put
my new knowledge into practice I offered her a reading using the
numerology of her birth date and name. Alexandria shares her experience
below.

Alexandria’s Feedback from her
reading:
I had always been called Alex. It was the short form for Alexandra,
the name with which I had been christened as an infant. Years later,
having to produce my birth certificate for something official, I
discovered that the name with which I had been registered at birth
was Alexandria. I didn’t much like the name Alexandria; it
always seemed so grand and long-winded. So, I stuck with Alexandra.
As I worked on my spiritual path, I looked at numerology and what
it meant for me in relation to my birth date and name. It seemed
significant that I was calling myself by a name other than one which
I had been registered at birth, but when I realised that the extra
‘i’ in Alexandria only added a number 9 so that the
numbers added up to the same whichever label I used for myself,
I did no more about it.
Then on 21st April, Erica Connolly, a Colourworks
teacher and healer, gave me a numerology reading using Colourworks.
Erica worked with the name I am known by on a daily basis - Alexandra
Rice. I insisted on Alexandra these days, rather than Alex. One
day, years ago, leading a dance class in which we danced our names,
I began as Alex as I’d so far been in life, and ended the
dance as Alexandra. It felt so much more colourful and feminine.
I hated being called Alex now. Alexandra seemed to flow much better.
But according to the colours, it wasn’t flowing at all. When
the numbers of my birth date and the consonants and vowels of Alexandra
Rice were laid out before me in Colourworks bottles, immediately
I was uneasy. There was a discordance here that I could not tolerate.
That discord was inside me, was me. I was only seeing the truth
of myself as I’m known and as I insist on being. I could live
with the birth date colours. The consonants too, were similar and
blended together, but the vowels were another story.
The vowels numbered 22 and 4. 22 is magenta
over pink. A lovely bottle, and one I had been bathing in that week.
For me, it is about forgiveness of the Higher Self and relaxing
into the wisdom of the Higher Self. It relates to the Fool in the
Tarot pack and urges me not to keep going round the same old track
again and again but move forward in life. To do this, I need to
forgive and realise that I am not guilty. I am a Divine human and
in my Divinity there can be no guilt or blame. The Divine is innocent
and so am I.
I was happy about this bottle but pairing it
with 4 seemed totally incongruous. It wasn’t the meaning that
upset me. 4 is Uranus in the Colourworks system and as an Aquarian
I am very in tune with how Uranus operates. No, it was the colour
combination. Uranus is yellow over very dark turquoise. It looked
terrible with the pinks of number 22. I use the word terrible advisedly
for it seemed to unnerve me, frighten me. That is who I have become
by naming myself Alexandra. Where was the harmony?
‘I can’t have this,’ I told
Erica. ‘How about if I add the extra ‘i’ and make
it Alexandria?’ So, we tried it. The vowels then added up
to number 31. Aah, bliss. Number 31 is The Recluse, pale green over
a deep forest green. It immediately allowed me to breathe a sigh
of relief. It allowed me to feel space inside, a deep peace. No
longer was there a split in me or the discord in the colours. The
deep green feels comforting and nurturing, protective, enfolding
without possessiveness or cloistering. There is a quietness about
this bottle, and a sense of being home. This bottle was giving me
back myself. Not only this, but also it blended very well with the
colours of Uranus and toned in with the other colours in this reading,
the turquoise and blues. I would change my name. I would be Alexandria.
I got home very late and went to bed, leaving the administrative
work regarding my name change for the next day. This would be a
new beginning.
Next day, the 22nd
April I sent an e-mail notifying my friends of my name change; then
I realised the date. 22\04. It couldn’t have been more significant.
I meditated with number 31 bottle and felt great peace. This is
who I really am. I’d been afraid before. Alexandria conjured
up Egypt and all the terror of lifetimes there. The power issues.
It felt so dynamic and the extra ‘i’ meant that there
was no room to hide any more. I am extended now into my full self.
The extra ‘i’ provides more room for the ‘I Am’.
The ‘i’ also seems to convey that I can see more clearly,
there is more ‘eye’. The extended name means that there
is more room inside me, the green depth of my heart, more room to
breathe. It gives me permission to claim my own space in the world
as a unique being, and let nothing come between me and my Truth.
Feature
Colour: Turquoise By Erica Connolly

One
of the great gifts of turquoise as a colour is that it immediately
connects us with water, the sea, with the depths, with mystery.
It seems to open us to something deep inside of ourselves, allowing
us to reach places we cannot usually access. It contains stillness
and peace, yet it also enables us to move, to flow, and to expand.
The element of Water is the great transformer.
It connects us with our emotions and guides us through them, knowing
that as we do so we begin to set ourselves free. It lets us get
that we only reach our true selves through our emotions, that
only by fully accepting and feeling them can we transcend our
perceived limitations. And it also gives us a glimpse of what
happens when we do this – how we become like the dolphins
who know themselves to be pure joy. Turquoise gives us this gift,
it takes us to the place where we remember to play and have fun,
to open to the essential joy we knew as children, before we began
to take ourselves so seriously.
It is also brings us into communion with the
whales and their messages for us of oneness, of transformation,
of the deep shifts that we as humanity are experiencing. Turquoise
is assisting us to usher in a new era, a new Earth, a new way
of being. It connects us with technology and mass communication,
enabling us to know ourselves as part of a greater whole. It also
has much to teach us from the time of Atlantis and allows us to
reclaim the wisdom we had then for now.
Above all turquoise is the colour of communication
from the heart. Situated between the heart and the throat chakra
this colour combines the love of our hearts with the power of
our communication to enable us to express what we feel and who
we are.

Astrology
for Summer 2006 by Amanda Bradbury

This summer is about reflection and considering
the wider vision of what we wish to achieve as we birth new energies
on the planet.
Connecting to the energy of water can be helpful
during this time and the harmonious link between Jupiter and Uranus
in water signs can be thought of as an asset we can draw on. Essentially
it’s about going with the flow and listening to our feelings.
Together these planets are about going deeper and opening up on
emotional and spiritual levels. We have a desire to understand
more than usual and superficial answers or solutions aren’t
enough any longer.
The compassion and feeling of connection that
goes along with this planetary link enables us to step beyond
previous judgements and be less affected by those who may be judging
us. It brings a theme of uncovering what is hidden, secrets from
the past or esoteric information.
Mars, planet of action, travels through Leo
during June and most of July, bringing flair, vision and enthusiasm
to projects of all kinds. The period between the 18th and the
22nd June can be thought of as a testing time to refine our ideas,
though it may feel like a brick wall initially. There’s
energy to push ahead at this time, but we need to stay balanced
to benefit from the spiritual gateway that comes with the summer
solstice on the 21st.
Mercury is moving backwards between the 4th
and the 29th July, so there may be delays around communication.
The 6th July represents a time of release and forward movement
and catalyst Uranus plays a key role so intense shifts could happen
around this time.
The Capricorn Full Moon on July 11th brings
an opportunity to let go of what is stuck in our lives and to
find a place of acceptance and compassion. Venus, planet of love
and relationships, moves into homely Cancer from the 19th, putting
the emphasis on family. The end of the month represents a special
time for relationships of all kinds with Venus, Jupiter and Uranus
forming an auspicious configuration in water signs, bringing emotional
freedom and healing.
The Aquarius Full Moon on August 9th is about
taking responsibility for what we create and moving beyond the
illusion of separation. By the 31st the clash between Saturn and
Neptune becomes exact, challenging us to make dreams reality and
maintain progress that has been made.
The energy builds up again with the eclipses
in September, so expect more shifts and changes now. The lunar
eclipse (Full Moon) on the 7th is about being clear and breaking
free from illusions. The solar eclipse (New Moon) on the 22nd
amps up the energy of the autumn equinox and could transform our
image of who we are and what we’ve come here to do.
Astrology provides
a map of the soul and Amanda offers Colour and Astrology readings
in person or by phone. She also offers workshops on Colour and
Astrology and the next is on the 16th and 17th September in Stoke
Gabriel, Devon. Tel: 01803 782366 or e-mail: amanda@angelic-light.com

Cape Agulhas - the Southern most tip of
South Africa, where two oceans meet. The first site at Cape
Agulhas seems to be more about encouraging some investment for
the area to increase tourism! Still, there's a chance to see
whales there too.

The famous Cango Caves are located nearby and are definitely
an attraction worth exploring, especially since they boast some
of the most beautiful calcite caverns in the world. Seemingly,
the Little Karoo area has some incredible roads - some are not
for the faint hearted as it's through, around, up and over a
mountainous region. Not necessarily the route to the caves however!

Colour
Works by Philippa Merivale

What I love about "Colour Works"
by Pippa Merivale is how Pippa immediately gets my attention
by luring and captivating me with her story. The story just
carries itself into the whole concept of what the book is
truly about and how it came about. I couldn't keep up with
myself reading this book because I was so intrigued, and not
just because I am a colour teacher and LOVE colour. The experiences
and the synopses of bottles are short, sweet and to the point.
There is no complexity to understanding what Colourworks is.
The book has become a great tool as well because I can just
drag the book around with me for reference or information
regarding any bottles or to draw attention to the bottles.
Besides, when you put Melissie and Pippa together you get
"the dynamic Colour duo"!! So an added bonus to
this book is that you have, in my opinion, two of the best
masters of colour, walking the planet, telling you like it
is, here and now in the 21st century. Hardcore, straight line
factual goddess energy. 10 Stars!!!
Leslie Skopick
Colourworks Teacher USA
Following on
from an interview of Moira Bush by internet radio www.myspiritradio.com,
Gill Herbert supplied the following review of the book:
What a fantastic
book! Point me in the direction of the nearest Colourworks
course, I need to experience this for myself. I had thought
I was getting a handbook on how to do this fascinating therapy
but this is dealt with in previous books. This book was so
much more, mainly biographical, which sometimes became difficult
reading, with lots of anecdotes and personal insights. Each
of the bottles are described and discussed in conversations
between Melissie Jolly, the founder of Colourworks and Philippa
Merivale, the author. I found that sometimes their discussions
were incredibly profound while at other times what they said
was beyond my understanding but made me thirst for a deeper
knowledge. Each of the bottles is shown in beautiful colour
and I even found myself responding to the photographs –
I can’t wait to get my hands on the real thing!
We invite anyone
else to submit their experience or review of this book.
Handy
Reference Guide for Colourworks Therapists and Teachers By
Velsha Mackay
For those of you who have completed Colourworks
courses and read Colour Works by Philippa Merivale, you will
now be aware of the depth and breadth of the information within
the system. It is awesome! You also know how easy it is to
access the information of the Colourworks system from the
book, as many of us are now using it instead of the manuals
to gain the information we need. I would like to offer my
concise Book of Reference Cards to accompany Colour Works.
I compiled the Book of Reference Cards as a ready reference
to the Colourworks system with all the information I considered
necessary to help me during my Colourworks workshops, readings
etc., before I used my Colour Works book or manuals for the
more detailed information.
I was delighted with the positive feedback from those, including
Melissie and Moira, who saw the prototype. I have already
received a number of requests for copies.
They are designed and printed by me, with colour images of
every bottle, courtesy of www.colourworks.org
If you are interested in obtaining a copy, in the first instance,
email me (velsh@btinternet.com)
with your order, including your name, address and details
of your preferred payment method. I do have a paypal account.
They will be shipped out to you by return.
